Located in the heart of an astonishing mountain playground, Mountain State University, a premier private institution, gives our students a quality education that leads to rewarding employment. Offering over 90 degree concentrations from certificates to graduate degrees, MSU is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association. Formerly The College of West Virginia, the institution adopted its new name on August 28, 2001.

Serving over 3000 students yearly, our commitment to a flexible learning environment has led us to develop distance learning opportunities tailored to students with other work and family responsibilities. Innovative programs and responding to the needs of students are the keys to Mountain State University's success. Our curriculum is focused on real-world skills and knowledge, not just theory. "Opportunities as high as our mountains, Mountain State University."

In the next several months, MSU will be offering a number of courses leading to undergraduate and graduate interdisciplinary degrees with a focus on recent American history. At that time, we will be announcing the distinguished faculty and lecturers for these courses which will be offered on-line and via other distance learning modalities. MSU is proud to have secured historian Dr. Peter D. Klingman as part of this faculty. Some of the proposed courses include the following:

  • Rise and Fall of the Nixon Presidency
  • How the Nixon Presidency Changed the World
  • Myths and Realities of Watergate
  • Watergate: Its Origins
  • Watergate: The Cover-up
  • Watergate: Deep Throat
  • Watergate: The Uncovering
  • Watergate: Legacy and Aftermath
