Just the FAQs
Is it possible to sample the Nixon Era discussion list without subscribing?
You may view messages without the ability to post to the list by going to visit the Nixon Era list without joining section.
How do I join the Nixon Era discussion list?
Most people will wish to receive their messages via email as they are posted, so you can simply join by sending an email message with no subject or no message in the body to the following email address: join-nixon@lists.mountainstate.net. For more information see the instructions for joining the list via email.
Can I receive the messages other than through my email account?
Yes. You may read messages whenever you desire via the web or as a newsgroup. To do this, you must join via the web interface. When setting up options and select the Status option of nomail. This will allow you to access the list at anytime without receiving a mountain of email.
But how then do I see the messages?
You can access the web interface and enter your email address and password.
I've enterend my email address and password and I still cannot access the messages, what now?
If you receive an error message after you pressed the 'click here to enter Nixon list'
(after entering your username and/or password) then there is a problem. You may
have entered your name or password incorrectly. If you are sure you entered your
name correctly (and you are already receiving list messages) then you may have
entered the password incorrectly. Try again.
Once you are successful in entering your email address and password, you will receive the main menu screen.
By clicking on the read messages button you will get the following screen from which you can access messages, search for message topics and post new messages.
What if I've forgotten my password?
If you have forgotten your password you can use the 'Did you forget
your password' section. An informational message with your signup
info, including your password will be emailed to you.
Can I also see the list through my newsreader software?
Yes, if you prefer to view the list as a newsgroup, as a member you may access the list by going to news://lists.mountainstate.net/nixon. You will be prompted to enter your username and password.
What is digest mode?
The "digest" option allows members to receive one message on a daily basis. This prevents you from receiving a multitude of messages in your e-mail box, yet still receive the messages in a timely and convenient manner. The digest message will be delivered at approximately midnight (eastern time) and will contain all of the messages from that particular day. On days when no messages are posted, you will not receive a digest message. You may choose this mode by selecting the Status option of digest.
How do I unsubscribe to the Nixon Era discussion list?
If this particular discussion arena is not your cup of tea, send a blank message without a subject line to leave-nixon@lists.mountainstate.net.
Who moderates and maintains the list?
A number of Nixon research scholars moderate the list and its maintenance is handled by Mountain State University's School of Extended and Distance Learning. For further information, contact, James M. Owston, Assistant Vice President for On-line Curriculum.
